Jackson and I made these on our honeymoon in Hawaii :D. We grilled up some hefty 8-10oz burger patties on our rental unit's gas-powered grill. For toppings, we made a condiment that vaguely resembled teriyaki sauce out of ketchup, soy sauce, and ground ginger. We also grilled up slices of pineapple on skewers. We bought some sweet Hawaiian style burger buns which were absolutely delicious. I had my burger with a mild cheddar cheese, and Jackson had his burgers without cheese. The end results were fantastic. The juicy, savory beef patties were offset perfectly by the tang and sweetness coming from the bun and topping. We paired this with a grilled eggplant and broccoli salad, which was also a big hit.
This was our favorite meal we cooked on our honeymoon. It will probably miss the mark now that we're back home, but we'll hold the memory of this dinner near and dear.
